a Summary, etc This chapter is about the LCD displays used in microcontroller based applications. The industry standard HD44780 LCD controller is used in the chapter. The internal operation of the LCD controller is described with reference to the LCD instruction set. The low level initialisation of LCDs in both 4-bit mode and 8-bit mode are explained by giving the necessary steps. A mikroC program code is given to show how an LCD can be initialised in 4-bit mode using the basic low level initialisation sequence. Finally, the mikroC language LCD library functions are described briefly.
